Officials Call For Review of Boston Trolley Safety Procedures

Driver Texting Before Crash, 50 People Injured

A review of safety practices has been ordered by Massachusetts representatives after a Boston trolley accident, in which nearly 50 people were injured, was caused by a driver who police say was text messaging before the crash.

Transportation Secretary James Aloisi has asked American Public Transportation Association to reexamine the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority's employment and training practices.

Aloisi is also calling for an auto-brake system on Boston's trolley line.
